Customizing learning content is about understanding your client’s learners and unique needs. In this case study, we worked with a training provider to adapt their proprietary content for a large client with multiple learner groups.

Company Overview

Our client, a leading training provider. Had developed substantial off the shelf training delivered through live and online sessions supported by their proprietary learning experience platform or LXP.

Their programs were based on their own intellectual property models for various customer learner groups, which were sold as separate training programs. When one of their client companies needed a more customized training solution, they brought us in to help.

The Challenge

The challenge was clear this client’s current off the shelf training wasn’t enough. While the existing programs were solid, they didn’t fully align with the specific audience or their unique goals. On top of that, the client also had several distinct learner groups. Each with different roles, skill levels, and expectations. And like many custom learning projects, time was tight. We needed to move quickly while still taking the time to deeply understand the content, the models, and the learners themselves.

Content Analysis

Before jumping into content creation, we took the time to analyze both the provider’s training models and the specific needs for their client. This meant analyzing their existing content, identifying any gaps, and exploring what would make the training more relevant and inclusive for multiple learning groups within the same training event.

Building the Custom Solution

To build the custom solution we proposed adaptations to the provider’s core models and introduced new learning elements that supported broader learner needs. The result was a blended solution that worked across audiences. Our deliverables included presentation decks, facilitator guides, participant guides, videos, and LXP content for pre-work and follow up activities.

Collaborative Process

We worked closely with the training provider and representatives who understood the client’s goals and learner makeup to stay aligned and deliver on a tight timeline. We set up regular conversations and review meetings of content in chunks, which helped us fine tune our understanding and deliver on the goals set for this project.

These reoccurring review sessions allowed us to continue to refine our understanding of the material and stay aligned with project needs as they evolved.

The Result

The result was customized training content that spoke directly to the client’s diverse learner groups. This not only met the immediate needs of the client, but also gave the training provider reusable assets that could be repurposed for future clients.

Through our collaborative phased approach, we were able to ensure we delivered content that was clear. Engaging, adaptable and ready for live or digital use. Do you have a custom learning content project that needs urgent attention? We’d love to help Reach out today to get started.
