About Petra

Petra discovered her desire to lead others in their quest for making a lasting positive impact early on in life, in an unlikely setting: the theater.

As a teenager -- without any previous experience in theater -- she led and directed a team of fellow students in a performance of Schiller’s “Kabale und Liebe” (Intrigue and Love).

This included navigating a series of challenges that could have easily derailed them, including resourcing stage memorabilia and professional costumes to innovating a creative way to mentor fellow students with the use of an old-fashioned tape recorder. 

After weeks of practice the big day came. As the curtains closed on a very successful play and her actors dragged her on stage, Petra recognized that she would have preferred to disappear in a hole than stand in the spotlight. Petra has always preferred to leave the limelight to others, taking the role of the guide, mentor and coach behind the scenes instead. 

In hindsight, the performance was only the icing on the cake.

It was the collaboration between team members and the creative process, yes, even the troubleshooting to overcome all the challenges, that brought satisfaction and pride in the accomplishment. 

Throughout her career, a similar story has played out on countless corporate stages.  

Petra seeks out opportunities to work behind the scenes with teams and facilitate the process to generate performance improvement. Herself a lifelong learner, she has developed a passion for learning and development and moved her career towards helping organizations and professional advisors to develop training programs and address performance issues - very often utilizing a virtual environment.

German by birth, Petra leans on her broad experience in Canada, the United States, Germany, and Australia that includes multiple positions in travel, tourism, hospitality, and air transportation. After her Degree in Business at the Munich Hochschule, she completed her MBA at Lancaster University and her Certificate as a Professional Coach at Simon Fraser University. Petra is also an Accredited Professional with Great Place To Work®.

Petra has extensive experience working with organizations and professionals in their pursuit of creating and delivering engaging training programs. Her company Petra Mayer & Associates Consulting Inc. brings together professionals who want to achieve the best results for their clients while providing engaging and transformational learning interventions, supporting change management processes, and improving internal corporate culture. 

You can often find Petra with her dog Sidney, enjoying the seawall in Vancouver, BC, where she currently resides.

Leah Kruger is an experienced learning designer with a passion for online learning and interactive instructional design. She brings a fresh eye to challenging topics, and has over 10 years of experience designing and developing corporate and compliance training for a wide range of industries, including banking, government, medical and corporate leadership. 

Specializing in creating engaging virtual learning opportunities, Leah’s specialties include designing for a global audience, making the most of online tools, connecting learners on a deeper level, and embedding relevant and practical opportunities in all coursework. 

Leah has a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, with a major in human resources and publishing.
