Without any experience in theater she led the group through a series of challenges that could have easily derailed them. From resourcing stage memorabilia and professional costumes to a creative way to mentor her fellow students with the use of an old-fashioned tape recorder.
After weeks of practice the big day came. When her actors guided her on the stage during the final curtains of a very successful play, she would have rather disappeared in a hole than stand on stage. Petra has always preferred to leave the limelight to others and take the role of the guide, mentor and coach.
In hindsight, the performance was only the icing on the cake.
It was the collaboration between team members and the creative process, yes, even the troubleshooting to overcome all the challenges, that brought satisfaction and pride in the accomplishment.
Throughout her career, Petra sought out opportunities to work with teams and facilitate the process to generate performance improvement. Herself a lifelong learner, she has developed a passion for learning and development and moved her career towards helping organizations and professional advisors to develop training programs and addressing performance issues - very often utilizing a virtual environment.
German by birth, Petra leans on her work experience in Germany, USA, Australia and Canada including multiple positions in travel, tourism, hospitality, air transportation and tour operation. After her Degree in Business at the Munich Hochschule, she completed her MBA at Lancaster University and her Certificate as a Professional Coach at Simon Fraser University. Petra is an Accredited Professional with Great Place To Work.
